Photography and Me

Phew

More editing done. Some shots from the race, and a few of Y-D 3rd baseman Tyler Hanover. I love those cross-over throws.

Busy Busy

So it has been a busy few days for me. Between work, editing, shooting the Cape League All-Star game at Fenway Park, and trying to have a social life, I am feeling quite drained. I still have half the batch from the race to go through, hopefully I will be done with the “preliminary” round of pics soon, then I can get to work of the shots from Fenway. Fenway was an absolute blast. It was my first time there to see a game, and you certainly couldn’t beat the $10 tickets. Along with that $10 ticket you got the option to sit wherever you wanted. So a few friends and I decided to sit in row 3 behind the first base line. Was a pretty good vantage point for pitchers and first and second base. Home plate was also pretty visible but my buddies head seemed to get in the way when I needed to shoot in that direction. I borrowed my friends 1.4x teleconverter and came to the conclusion I need one, but using it with my current 70-200 f/4L restricted me to higher ISO’s than what I prefer to shoot at. So I have decided to save up to get the 70-200 f/2.8L, thus making the 1.4x teleconverter give the lens the same f/4 aperture and giving me the the ability to run the same ISO I use normally.

Frito’s and Dr. Pepper

Are my snack of choice while spending an eternity editing all the pics from the race. I have put a few up so far, probably a few more tonight or tomorrow. Most of these are my personal favorites. Especially the ones where the driver’s helmet is crystal clear and you can read what they have painted on them. I decided to bring both my cameras with me this year, my 7D with the 70-200 f/4L and the 50D with the 28-135mm. It was a good choice because I got some pics in the paddock that would have been difficult (or non-existent) had I brought one camera and 2 lenses. Hot swapping lenses is a pain and this definitely made life easier. So far I am very pleased with the sharpness that is my 7D. Near tack sharp on some shots.

Been A While

Ok, so it has been a while since I posted. I am doing my best to keep this updated. My new 7D has been an absolute blast and that is mainly the reason why I haven’t been on here recently. I did go to Lime Rock Park today however and managed to pound out about 600 photos and a few videos with the 7D. So I shall update my flick and the blog soon enough with stories and pictures.

It’s Friday

It is Friday, and I am missing another home game, this time due to work. I am optimistic though as my 7D is in route from New York as we speak. I am quite excited to shoot with this new body, and very excited about it’s advanced AF system and higher shutter speeds. Couple that with my 70-200 f/4L, and I should be in heaven when shooting. Gotta get ready for work.

Game Today

Not attending due to rain, makes me sad it is my day off and I really wanted to shoot. Won’t be able to attend a game until the 17th when Cotuit hosts Falmouth at 5:00 pm. I have been thinking about having some “business cards” made though, gotta do some research on that. I am sure I can find a site that makes them for cheap enough.

Canon EOS 50D

I am selling my Canon EOS 50D along with a Canon EF 28-135mm f/3.5-5.6 lens. In very, very good condition, not once has it been droppped. There is one bad pixel, but in a 15.1 megapixel picture you really won’t notice it. Reason for selling is I purchased a Canon EOS 7D yesterday and don’t feel the need to keep 2 bodies right now in my life. If I don’t sell it I will keep it, it is just maintaining 2 bodies with CF cards and batteries is a pain in the butt for me right now.

Photography

Lately I have been diving into photography with a much more head first approach. Just going at it, attending as many Cotuit Kettleers baseball games as I can to hone my skills and stay sharp. It has been quite a fun time, not only shooting the games, but attending them as well. I have learned some things about shooting and being patient since the season started about a month ago. My very good friend, Ashley Crosby (highheelsathomeplate.wordpress.com), who works for the league has been very nice to let me accompany her and get me in the press box once or twice to get some good shots. She also provides me with any roster info I cannot find and some laughs along the way as well. So far this journey in the early months of summer has been a good one, and I have come out of it with some very nice photos. Check out my Flickr feed at the right, click “more photos” to view my entire collection.

Honda S2000

So, it has been exactly one year today (and 13,307 miles) since I purchased my second Honda S2000. I have got nothing to say but good things about this sporty little behemoth. It has been a gem to me. This car, in my eyes, is the perfect addiction. It is so easy to drive, so easy to maintain, and so easy to enjoy.  The end.

Heh…

I am pretty much done with this blog. I figure it is pretty pointless. Oh well, was kind of fun while it lasted.
